Munchin' On Sunshine -- Fort Collins, Colorado

Munchin' On Sunshine -- Fort Collins, Colorado
A baby squirrel, one of a litter of four, munches on crab apples last October. The large, spreading crab apple tree in my front yard serves as a haven, playground, and food source for an incredible number of birds, squirrels, raccoons, and insects. I've even seen a red tailed hawk perch in its branches. Right now the squirrels are in a bit of a mating frenzy as spring approaches, and there has been a constant chaos of scrambling, chattering, and racing through the branches (and over the roof) as the games play out. It's a hoot to watch. :)
